ART WORKSHOP

"Wonderful Yupo & Watercolor"

Watercolor on Yupo Paper

Watercolor on Yupo paper is the most exciting art experience in a long time. My workshop will be held July 16, 17 18th , (Monday- Wednesday) at the Heyde Center for the Arts, in Chippewa Falls, WI. The hours will be 9-4 each day.

Have you tried to watercolor on Yupo? If you have and didn’t like it, why not give it another try? If you haven’t tried it, this is your opportunity. I find it very exciting. If you are not familiar with it, Yupo is not paper, but a synthetic material, (basically plastic) that was designed originally for the packaging industry. But, artist’s being what we are, found it and have been doing wonderfully colorful art. Because it’s not paper, the paint cannot soak into it as it does with traditional water color papers, but stays on the surface. Thus, the colors stay very bright and strong.

This workshop is working outside of the traditional watercolor box! Working on Yupo requires new thinking. Why not challenge your creativity and give it a try?

I have taught workshops in experimental art: watercolor, assemblage, textured acrylic, and collage. My personal approach to watercolor (and painting in general) is anything but traditional. If you are interested in pursuing more vivid, spontaneous and imaginative artwork, why don’t you join me for a workshop?

These classes aren’t for people who never held a brush before, unless they’re very courageous. A little art experience is advised.

I enjoy teaching, and workshops are my favorite. From my own experience at being a student in a workshop situation, I find that I learn much more in a workshop than in a once a week class. The concentration and camaraderie in a workshop is unparalleled. If you haven’t been in one of my workshops, we have such fun!

If you are unfamiliar with my work and would like to see some examples, I have work at Dovetail Gallery, Egg Harbor, Door County, WI; Giede Designs, in Menomonie; Dancing Bird in Cumberland; The Brickyard Gallery, in Barronett; Eau Claire Regional Art Center, Eau Claire; and in the Mable Tainter, Menomonie.

If you are interested in attending, please contact me and I will send you an application to reserve a space. The deadline is June 18th . Class sizes are limited to 12. I prefer the smaller size class, so I can give more attention to each painter.

A supply list will be sent to you upon receipt of your application. You will need a little time to assemble your supplies as they are difficult to find locally. (I ordered most of mine online)

The cost is $160 for three days. I require 50% down, the rest payable the first day of class.

I’m looking forward to the workshop! I hope to see you there. If you have any questions at all, please call, or e-mail me.
